Drunk driver killed eight and injured many, in Ghana.








According to the Ghanian times, Isaac Essel, was driving a DAF container truck, with number: GR7413-12, is said to have rammed his truck into vehicles ahead of him, at Sofoline, Kumasi, at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday.


Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Charles Ahiamale, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) confirmed to The Ghanaian Times that three people died on the spot and five others, later at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where they had been rushed, for treatment.


He said one of the dead, a woman, had been identified as Jemima.


The driver, he said, claimed he had brake failure, but it came out that he was heavily drunk, as he could not stand on his feet during the interrogation.


He said about three vehicles were involved in the accident, but the dead were from an urvan bus.


The police are investigating.
