Hajia Asiya Lawal, 35, And Abrahim Muhamadu, both are Nigerians who have travelled to far away Ghana in Search of the "Golden fleece" but see why sometimes saguines lives on Choleric eyes. Hajia Lawal, claimed to be a soothsayer , she was said to have told her victim ( Abrahim) that she could perform rituals for him to become rich.
The Tesano District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Lydia Donkor told The Ghanaian Times in Accra that a week ago, Hajia Lawal called Abrahim Mahamadu on phone, and claimed she was a soothsayer and had a vision that Mahamadu was going to be rich.
She said according to Hajia Lawal, the vision could only materialise if he provided GH¢2,200 and 100,000 CFA for rituals.
Chief Supt. Donkor said, the two arranged and met at Abofo, near Achimota were Mahamadu handed over the money to her for the purchase of a ram and other items for the rituals.
He said Hajia Lawal collected sand into a bag and gave it to Mahamadu and warned him not to open the bag until after three days.
Chief Supt. Donkor said when the victim was leaving the place he noticed some sand dropping from the bag, and upon suspicion opened the bag only to discover that it contained sand.
Chief Supt Donkor said the victim reported the matter to the police and Hajia was arrested.
A search in her car revealed fake dollars worth 30,000 dollars and a bag of sawdust.
She said the suspect would be processed and charged in for fraud.
